The Heart of Texas Hoedowners, Inc., a non-profit dance organization, was established in the summer of 2001 to promote the enjoyment of country/western music and dance in the Austin, Texas area.

The group works to provide a comfortable dance environment and organized learning opportunities to the gay- and lesbian-friendly community. Although events are conceived with this segment of the central Texas population in mind, the group does not discriminate. As a diverse, inclusive club, we enthusiastically invite everyone to join us and participate in our activities. We are dedicated to preserving a safe, fun environment where dance positions are not gender-defined.

The IAGLCWDC exists "to promote country western dancing, activities and music to all persons without regard to age, sex, gender or gender identity, religion, national or cultural origin, sexual orientation, disability or HIV status."

The Heart of Texas Hoedowners, Inc. is proud to support that purpose by being a member club of the IAGLCWDC.

You'll usually find some Hoedowners at The Rusty Spurs Saloon and Dance Hall where you can experience three entertainment venues in one: Rusty's country-western side, the more laid-back Lounge at Rusty Spurs, and The Patio for high-energy contemporary beats.

The Rusty Spurs also shows its support by frequently hosting community service events and activities.
